Traditionally, the Kathina season occurs during the one month period after the end of the monastic vassa (3 months-rains-retreat). The Kathina robe offering may only be made once in the monastery during this period. This Kathina offering has been a tradition held since the time of the Buddha, and is a way that the laity show their support for the 5 or more monks who completed the vassa in that monastery.

*Additional Information:

  • A Kathina robe cloth (1 per person) is available for guests who come to be offered on the day. It can be collected in the monastery and is available by a donation of one’s choice. All donations for the event will go towards the building of Bodhisaddha Hall
  • Complimentary bus service leaves from Bodhikusuma Centre, 203-209 Thomas St., Haymarket at 8:00am. Email wat@bodhisaddha.org or call (02) 9211-1188 to book. Spaces are limited and must be reserved ahead of time.
